A woman accused with harassing Kate McCann allegedly deposited her a voicemail message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, the court was told phone records and data recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most publicized missing child cases and is still unresolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

A separate phone message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I know I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Suppose there is a slight possibility that I am Madeleine? What then? Isn't that important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I maintain a existence here in Poland, I only wish to understand," the message continued.

The panel was told that by means of emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a bid to show a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, an intelligence analyst with the police force who collated the evidence, informed the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also communicated with close associates of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I won't give up and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court heard the co-defendant established a connection online with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a trip to the McCanns' property in that area in that winter.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated via communication app to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she ought to be treated respectfully in the time leading up to the trip to that location, that area, in that winter.

The court learned message exchanges between the two individuals, in November 2024, planning attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from utensils at a restaurant.

"We must take action," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the trip to their residence, the defendant transmitted a communication which stated: "We are sat near the McCanns' home with our headlights off like detectives. I desired to accomplish this with another person I didn't imagine I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
