Members of an Italian clan of burglars who stole over £1.2 million valued of items, including from ex- NUFC forward Isak, have been ordered to return only £1 per person.

Brothers Valentino Nikolov and Giacomo, their female sibling Jela Jovanovic and her child Charlie travelled to the northeastern of England to raid multiple homes in April 2024.

The foursome were jailed for from six and 10 years in 2025.

At a proceeds of crime proceeding at the court, Jela Jovanovic and the brothers Nikolov were instructed to repay £1 per person while Charlie Jovanovic must hand over over a thousand pounds.

Details of the Break-ins

The court previously heard the group came by ferry in the UK on March 27, 2024 and used a campervan as their "headquarters", which they parked at a service area and Durham service rest stops while utilizing another car to scout out targets and execute thefts.

On 31 March they stole over £1m of goods including high-end fashion, handbags, jewelry and a honor from a residence on a street in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the owners were on holiday.

The next evening, the crew entered a house on a gated cul-de-sac in Whitburn, South Tyneside, and stole designer handbags, jewellery and footwear valued at more than £100,000.

After scouting out Newcastle United's training ground for 48 hours, they then struck at the home of Swedish player Alexander Isak in Darras Hall, Ponteland on 4 April, taking £10,000 in cash, sixty-eight thousand pounds worth of jewellery and the striker's one hundred twenty thousand pound Audi RS6.

The group, who were described by prosecutors as professional touring thieves, wore gloves and masks, switched their mobile devices off as they approached their objectives and strapped a license plate, which had been stolen from a garage in Chester-le-Street, on to their vehicle with elastic bands.

They were apprehended in the Birmingham on 13 April.

Legal Proceedings and Rulings

Valentino had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to burglary but was convicted by the court, while his three relations had all submitted admissions to the same charge.

At the proceeds of crime hearing, lawyer the prosecution said every one of the burglars had benefited from their offenses to the amount of over £1.2 million, which was determined by what the victims said they had lost.

But Charlie was the sole individual deemed to have any funds that could be "recovered", namely £1,135.50 which had previously been confiscated by police, the judge was informed, with 14 days to be spent in jail if he defaulted.

The other three had no money or property so were directed to make a token amount of £1 each, with one week in prison the result if the money was not submitted.

Judge Spragg said if they were found with property in the future, "such as driving around in Italy in a sports car or owning a property", the prosecution could initiate new proceedings to "satisfy the sum outstanding".
