Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
