Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for embracing violence and insanity with the same glee, all while weaving engaging, socially charged stories. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two producers whose projects have represented all of those qualities.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by having a fresh location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their steady trust and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the essence of humanity through this intricate and unpredictable perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and bring our shared irreverent, daring approach to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
