Spurs Manager Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "they cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of scores in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth Premier League home loss of 2025.

However the main topic of discussion was Fulham's second score when Vicario gave away the ball far beyond his box.

The goalkeeper came out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than booting it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at 36.6 yards.

Seconds later when the ball came to Vicario again, a number of Tottenham fans jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes truly angered the manager.

"I heard a few of our fans reportedly booed the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' reaction to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing following the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period showing.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Hart remarked that the next score was "completely preventable".

"I do appreciate the fans' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the role the keeper is performing. He is a great team player, he's a true figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game

Italy international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated after the match that he had to take the feedback.

"The second score was a error of mine, I accept responsibility for it," he said.

"The intent was to kick the ball long and I just struck the ball in a bad way. That made an even bigger challenge to overcome."

He said receiving jeers "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it's hard to take."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second longest-range Premier League goal of the campaign – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten moments passed between Vicario exiting of his box and Wilson shooting – which was five moments after the kick.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," he said.

"I was surprised none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them covered the net, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a bit of additional opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the correct contact and place it towards goal. I had a positive feeling, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although Vicario's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round bad day for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.

This was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a joint team record matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

They still have home games against Frank's old side Brentford and champions Liverpool to come before the close of the season.

Just a single of those victories have occurred since Frank took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated Frank.

"During in a poor run, all aspects seems to go against you as well – the opening was a redirected attempt, the next is a error from the keeper.

"This result puts us in a position where we have suffered an additional match. Every game has a single story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck something we can use to learn."

Tottenham have lost four consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.

And they are recording nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their lowest rates on record in a single season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious role at a huge team with massive expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
