Starting XI

Dean Henderson Was rarely tested to make in the first half but then called into action by an opponent's curling effort. A sliding intervention on an Albanian attacker showed excellent reading of the game. 6/10

The debutant Tested against Albania’s primary attacker through their forward. Played in a central role initially later drifted wider once Saka entered the fray. 7

The defender Advanced forward on the ball, as he has done in the past. At times seemed hesitant in possession and the tactic abandoned at half-time. 6/10

The tall defender A constant threat from dead balls, per usual, but may be an alternative to his teammate at the back rather than alongside him. A loose distribution later in the match nearly resulted in an opener for Albania. 6

Nico O’Reilly One more confident performance by the youngster after his first cap versus another side. A teammate was unable to take the opportunity from a clever backheel behind the Albania defence. His position looks secure so soon. 7/10

The newcomer His first start for his country. Somewhat careless on the ball however his dangerous deliveries posed a danger. An effective game manager available to the manager to utilize versus defensive opponents. Booked for a rash challenge. Six

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free-kicks created chances. Was given license to roam on the left but was in an offside position when the ball arrived with a chance to score. Given a deserved substitution after an hour. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Operated in a high position on the right and also put in defensive duties. Demonstrated glimpses of brilliance and scuffed a shot wide. Replaced in the closing stages by Rogers, a fellow player, after receiving a caution. 7/10

The winger Was presented with the team's top opening before halftime, his shot smartly stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. With a teammate staying deep, it fell to him to offer an outlet out wide although his balls from the touchline were inconsistent. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6/10

Harry Kane The match-winner netting 77th and 78th goals at international level. His first a classic close-range tap-in and his next a classy header having drifted away off his defender. At 32, he continues to improve and the side are strong contenders next summer when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to get into the game from the left. Was presented with a presentable chance when set up by Bellingham but the keeper made the save. His replacement had a greater effect in his place. 5

• Foden (for a teammate 63) Was bright connecting seamlessly with the striker in more familiar role, 6/10
• Bukayo Saka (on for the winger at the 63-minute mark) Failed to convert yet his delivery led to the opener, 6
• Marcus Rashford (for Bowen 75) Energetic after coming on and set up Kane’s second with a brilliant delivery into the area, Seven
• Elliot Anderson (on for Wharton 75) Seems settled at this level, 6/10
• Rogers (replacing Bellingham with minutes remaining) Not enough time to affect things, 6/10
